Dates and Peanut Laddu – Vegan and Gluten Free

Dates and Peanut Laddu are the best sweet option for those who like to eat healthy sweets. These ladoos are made without sugar and added fat. These Khajoor Moongphali ke Laddus are highly nutritious as they are packed with protein, minerals and fibre. This sugar-free mithai is the best friend of people having diabetes as these are sugar-free.

Khajoor and shingdana laddoo is very easy and quick to make. These are great during festivals as we are running short of time and these can be made within no time with few ingredients. There is no exact recipe for this ladoo because the quantity and type of dry fruits to be used can be changed according to taste. Only one thing has to be there in good quantity and that is dates as they are the source of sweetness in the ladoos and also help in binding the ladoo.

This recipe is vrat (fasting) friendly as these ladoos can be used during fasting days as a falahari sweet for Navratri, Janmashtami, Shivratri and other festivals. They are a good option for Diwali and Holi also as they have a good shelf life. During winter they will keep you warm and energetic throughout the day.

Ingredients for Dates and Peanut Laddu

2 cups seedless dates chopped (250 grams)
1/2 cup raisins chopped
1 cup peanuts
1/2 cup desiccated coconut
2 tablespoon khuskhus (poppy seeds)
2 tablespoon honey/brown sugar/ jaggery (optional)
1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
1+1 teaspoon ghee / oil

Direction for Dates and Peanut Ladoo

  • Dry roast the peanuts on low heat till crunchy.  Cool, remove the skin by rubbing between your palms and coarsely pound them. Set aside.
  • In a pan; dry roast the coconut and khuskhus one at a time on low flame.
  • Chop the dates and grind coarsely.
  • Heat ghee in a pan; add dates, sugar, coconut, peanuts, raisins and sauté for 2 minutes.
  • Switch off the heat, add cardamom, let it cool a bit so that it is easy to handle.
  • Now make balls of the desired size and roll them in khuskhus so as to coat the laddu evenly.
  • Store in a air-tight container.
  • Enjoy!
