Tomato Drumstick Rasam, Charu, Saaru

Tomato Drumstick Rasam

Tomato Drumstick Rasam is a South Indian Soup that has a base of tomato with tamarind pulp and drumsticks. This rasam is easy and quick to make. I have used rasam powder for this recipe to save on time but the taste is really good. The flavor of rasam is spicy, sour and yummy. Rasam is also popularly called as Saaru in Karnataka and Charu in Andhra Pradesh.

South Indian meals will never be complete without Rasam. It is light on the stomach and aids in digestion. Though there are many varieties of rasam, but this one has a good amount of tomatoes and drumstick. Rasam goes perfectly with rice or you may even drink just like a soup if you find yourself suffering from cold.
