Samosa Pinwheels

Samosa Pinwheels is a mouthwatering snack very easy to serve during parties and large gatherings. As evident by the name it is similar to our ever green samosas but easier and quicker to make.

I have made them in an Air Fryer (as shown below) to avoid frying. You can bake them or even fry them. I have shown both the methods. They are delicious anyway.

Ingredients For Samosa Pinwheels

For the dough
1 cup maida (all-purpose flour)
2 tablespoon sooji (semolina)
2 teaspoon oil /ghee
½ teaspoon ajwain (carom seeds)
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup water approx

For the stuffing
4 to 5 potatoes boiled
½ cup boiled green peas
1 green chilli chopped fine
1 tablespoon coriander chopped fine
½ teaspoon sauf crushed (fennel seeds)
1 teaspoon coriander powder
½ teaspoon amchur (dry mango powder)
½ teaspoon chilli powder
1/3 teaspoon gram masala
Salt to taste

For maida paste (if you want to fry)
2 tablespoon maida (all-purpose flour
2 tablespoon water
Oil for frying

Directions For Samosa Pinwheels

The dough

  • Add maida, salt, carom seeds and ghee in a bowl. Mix well with your fingertips.
  • Add water little by little and knead it to semi soft dough. The dough should be too firm or too soft.
  • Cover with a wet napkin and set aside for 20 minutes.

The stuffing

  • Peel the potatoes, and mash them roughly. Do not mash to make like paste.
  • Add all the ingredients for the stuffing and mix well.
  • Divide the filling into two parts and keep it aside.

The flour paste (only for deep frying)

Samosa Pinwheels

  • Mix maida and water and make a smooth paste. Set aside.

How to proceed for Samosa Pinwheels

  • Knead the dough again and divide into 2 parts and make balls.
  • Flatten a ball, roll into 12” diameter.
  • Spread one portion of the filling evenly on the rolled dough, not spreading until the edges. Press the filling gently.
  • Start rolling the sheet gently, until you have a nice firm log. Apply water at the edge and seal well. Roll it gently again so that the log is firm. Seal both the sides also.
  • With a sharp knife slice the log into ½-inch thick pieces. Set aside.
  • Similarly make the second portion also.
  • Preheat the Air fryer, and air fry at 180 degrees for 16 minutes and at 200 for 4 minutes.
  • If you want to fry then heat the oil on medium heat.
  • Brush the maida paste lightly on both the sides of the pinwheels and fry them on medium heat in batches until both sides are golden brown.
  • Serve with the dip of your choice.
